AIRnyc’s Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) model is based on research, recommendations, and standards established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA). It aims to help patients with pre-diabetes prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes. Studies that informed the CDC’s determinations have shown that making modest behavior/ lifestyle changes helped participants lose 5% to 7% of their body weight and reduced the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58% in adults with pre-diabetes (71% for people over 60 years old).

This is a lifestyle change program that includes group sessions based on CDC recommendations, intensive one-on-one engagements in the home setting, as appropriate, and sustained engagement over one year.
